Programme
Refurbishment of offices and laboratories, and construction of new offices.
About
The Cori is a research centre, specialised in the painting industry. The new office building is the chance to act on the work quality as on the company’s image. The old building exuded the functionalism of the sixties and yearned for a new contemporary envelope. The client liked the integration of the concept of colour chart to talk about his deep knowledge of painting. The modernisation spreads everywhere, starting with a entry sequence. What could be more charming than hearing the client say : « as you are constructing a new building, you might as well make it examplary ». With the engineering consultant office Arcadis, we investigated more than 17 decisive themes in the environmental performance of the building. With a particular emphasis on thermal comfort, the choice of sustainable material, the water resource management, the flexibility, etc. Most of these choices are visible to the users. Indeed, ecological isn’t incompatible with high tech. The building is under monitoring for the continuous evaluation of consumption and a display device communicates it to everyone in the lobby. It completes the installations, such as the dry pond, at the entrance of the site, which alerts the inhabitants and visitors by the direct visualisation of the problem of the stormwater management during thunderstorms. The project was awarded with the BATEX price 2013.
