The place benefits from undeniable heritage qualities: unspoiled environment, type of classical square farm and facade barely changed. The project plans to preserve these inherent qualities by keeping the existing buildings and developing a new volume. In order to make possible the integration of 8 social housings with the actual structure, the project designs a minimal change of the existing bay windows, protecting the massiveness of the masonry. The central volume presents a back bay window partly common which is considered through the opening of a part of the roof and the creation of an interior courtyard so that each apartment can enjoy the light and the view of an external private space. It allows a qualitative appropriation of the space. From then on, the interior courtyard can become a casual collective space. Particular attention has been paid to the thermal insulation of the building envelope in order to respond to the low energy standards. Due to its compactness and the creation of common housings, the building has good tendencies regarding low energy consumption. Thus, the work mainly consisted in thermally insulating the outer walls.
