Project description : The purpose of thie project is to unify buildings from different eras, existing ruins as well as adding a carport in an existing classical park. In order to create a relationship between the existing central 19th century building and the park, an axis materialized by a new concrete staircase has been added, offering a view and a way through the ruins and the gardens. Starting as a classical staircase, it then crosses the ruins, the steps giving access to different « rooms », each one being an evocation of the existing buiding, including doorways and fireplaces. The rooms are characterized by peculiar plants, giving an additional flavor to each step. In order to unify the ruins in the landscape, a series of benches running parallel to the builidngs define different levels, creating a smooth and comfortable transition from the buildings to the park and its promenades.
