Nicolas Bomal

Description
Grandchild of the 20th Century, Nicolas BOMAL was born in a former industrial and coal mining area in 1974. Bomal was raised in post-industrial environments, in-between spaces, places that don’t obviously belong to anyone... or looking like some ancient civilization forever gone.
Using them as a playground while he was a kid, he now wanders through land and avoids the evidence of dismantlement, loss, waste to transpose on his pictures these patterns of Industrial Revolution landmarks into something more personal, his own viewpoint about people, their history and their environment. Awarded with the 14th National Prize in Belgium for his work Middelland (2000-2008), he now attempts to study sociological landscapes on destinations such as France, Canada, Albania, Poland... and others to come.
