The Brussels-based office CENTRAL office for architecture and urbanism - in collaboration with Maxime Delvaux, photographer, - has been selected to participate in the first edition of the Biennale d'architecture et de paysage d'Île-de-France with a research project on the industrial heritage of two cities, Paris and Brussels. Their starting point, the climatic metropolis as the paradigm for the next urban evolution, the issue of production (materials, goods and energy) and the transformation of waste within the urban fabric.

Under the direction of Djamel Klouche, architect and urban planner, CENTRAL is integrating the Augures exhibition, a laboratory of new architectural practices that will be presented at the Petite Écurie - École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture in Versailles. Their project Virtuous situations from the industrial past and some ideas for the future climate metropolis is based on four approaches and a series of documents, four fragments that will constitute the final reflection.

The papers on display, Luc Van Malderen's drawings and all the important elements of the research will be compiled and presented in a publication as an extension of the exhibition.

Initiated by the Île-de-France region, the first edition of the Biennale d'architecture et du paysage will be held in Versailles, a natural city since its origins, heir to an exceptional architectural and urban heritage that is now rooted in modernity, from 3 May to 13 July 2019.

Exhibitions, installations, debates, performances... the Biennale's journey, born of a fruitful dialogue between architects, landscape architects, urban planners, has been conceived as a prospective and awareness-raising laboratory that allows visitors to experience the city of tomorrow.

With the support of Wallonie-Bruxelles International and Wallonie-Bruxelles Architectures.
