BAUKUNST wins at 38th edition of the Equerre d’argent awards
The winners of the 38th edition of the Equerre d’argent awards were unveiled on 23 November during a ceremony broadcast live on the Moniteur and AMC websites for public health reasons. Earlier in the day, the twelve-member jury met to decide between the 25 nominated projects and to designate the winners in each category as well as the winner of the Equerre d’argent awards, which honours both the architect and the client for the best project of the year.
A Belgian architect won in the Habitat category. The winning project is by BAUKUNST in collaboration with Bruther for a student residence consisting of 192 social housing units and a reversible car park in Palaiseau (Essonne) for the client 1001 Vies Habitat.
According to the jury, “This achievement pushes the project to its conclusion, to perfection. Rigorous and sensitive work, totally coherent, without window dressings. An achievement in line with the architects’ philosophy. Everything is complete; everything is designed with the ultimate goal of mixing and reversibility. A project with qualities that are simultaneously artistic, poetic, and magical. A great lightness for such a heavy programme, illustrated by the extraordinary car park ramp.”
