Sill and Sound is an architecture firm founded in Brussels in 2015, whose work revolves around giving forth an individual product, based on case particularities, departing from a critical, emotional, and intellectual relationship with the social environment, the space, and the material. The aim is to always consciously experiment with the question of how to be contemporary, while reserving a certain distance from this contemporariness. This in-and-out relationship with the present is condensed in the concept of the sill, which symbolizes a two-faceted screen that defines but at the same time ties diverse worlds, that filters but at the same time meshes the interior with the exterior, the general with the particular, creating one through the other, within the context of their evolutive differences and oppositions.
Movses Hrayr Der Kevorkian, the founder of Sill and Sound, is an architect and urban planner based in Brussels, who graduated from the Faculty of Architecture, Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts, he later studied Urban Planning and Renovation in Brussels. With 15+ years of experience in the field, he launched Sill and Sound that works on varied projects from buildings/villas in Belgium and Armenia, to renovation of listed buildings in the UNESCO world heritage sites in Brussels, to wastewater treatment plants in the Middle East.
