The scenography for the retrospective of sculptor Jacques Moeschal at Bozar called for a subtle relationship between the exhibited work and Victor Horta’s beaux-arts architecture. The different exhibition spaces were woven into a clear path through the continuous repetition of the same exhibition table, which, like Horta’s enfilade spaces, changed in width, length and height. The nuanced and contemporary colour gradient of these tables guided the visitor, while the continuity of the exhibition route was further confirmed by the table leg which, as a repeating element, gave a rhythm to the tour, a subtle hint to Moeschal’s highway sculptures themselves. The temporality of the exhibition was taken into account by designing tables and table legs which were able to dismantle and re-use in a wide range of different settings.
