The AA Summer School 2021 is a full-time, two-week course comprising a unique and intensive programme of design studios, seminars, lectures and parties. Led by Sofia Krimizi, the AA Summer School is based on the AA unit system, it offers participants the opportunity to experience a diverse selection of different learning environments, teaching agendas and design techniques.

What Now? Agents of Care will attempt to respond to the unexpected spatial, social and political conditions that architectural practices, as well as education, are now facing. The aim is to build upon the emerging collective experience that the pandemic has cultivated, and to enable collaboration, hope and creative experimentation. Focusing on spaces of learning, the programme will dissect online formats of teaching and radically reconfigure these into new forms of interaction and spaces of care.

Units this year are led by Space Saloon, Khaled Al-Bashir & Jumanah Najib Abdullah Bawazir, Lydia Kallipoliti, Francesca Romana Dell’Aglio & Rory Sherlock, and Albane Duvillier & Elliot Rogosin, among others.

The deadline for applications and full payment is July 5, 2021. For further details and how to apply, please click here.

The AA Summer School 2021 will also host a number of public programme events throughout the duration of the summer school, to foster a richer range of discussions surrounding the agendas posed this year.

As part of the London Festival of Architecture (LFA) events, AA Summer School tutors will lead a roundtable discussion exploring the notion of care and the agency of the creative and cultural sectors.

Join us online on June 3, 2021 from 6–7:30pm BST for further insight. Book your place here.
