Les missions de l'ingénieur
This book, put together in collaboration with the writer Pierre Loze, tells the story of the gradual creation of a team of engineers, architects and draughtsmen around the central figure of René Greisch. It then casts an eye over the major works to see the light of day over the past ten years following the death of the founder, and shows that the spirit of research that spurred on this great engineer has remained a central concern of the team.In a language stripped of technical complexities, this book analyses the most prestigious or most interesting commissions entrusted to the Greisch office, such as the Millau Viaduct by Foster and Virlogeux, the Spa-Francorchamps racetrack, the Europe bridge in Orleans by Calatrava or the stadium in Lille, explaining the difficulties encountered, the principles and the solutions implemented to overcome them.It gives curious neophytes an insight into the foundations of the art of the engineer. A glossary explaining the terms used offers an excellent introduction for anyone who wants to understand the world of the civil construction engineer. Anxious as it is to get across the quality of these works, and to encourage clients to take an increasingly rigorous approach, it also sets out to give young people a taste for the engineering profession.
