Belgian Spirit Hong Kong & Shenzhen 2-7 December 2013
Belgian Spirit is an initiative of the three Belgian Regions of Brussels, Flanders & Wallonia, set up in 2011. Belgian Spirit promotes Belgian architecture, design and fashion in Asia: the goal is to create and develop long-term collaborations between Belgian designers and their Asian counterparts and clients. This year Belgium is the guest of honor of the Business of Design Week (BoDW)and will take part in the Bi-City Hong Kong-Shenzhen Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism at Shenzhen.Belgian Spirit 2013 - programme from the 2nd until the 7th of december 2013:- Economic mission led by the Queen Mathilde and three regional Ministers (Peeters, Marcourt et Frémaux). This mission will include B2Bs, workshops, networking events, etc.- Presentations/seminars/workshops: Belgian Spirit will deliver a majorpart of the speakers to the BoDW-forums. We will also organise seminars and master classes throughout the week.- “The House of the Belgian Spirit”: a Belgian country pavilion at BODW will brings a comprehensive overview of what Belgian Design has to offer. Opening with the presence of the Queen Mathilde.- Exhibition space for individual companies and the results of 9394.06km – Twin Design Research Studios, workshops curated by Belgian architect Kristof Crolla resulting in a collaboration between Belgian and Hong Kong-based institutions.- Architecture exhibition and seminar at the Bi-City Hong Kong-Shenzhen Biennale 2013. Presentation of "XX Models. Young Belgian Architecture"- Events and actions to enforce Belgium's partnership with BoDW and create long-term relationships between both countries.Note that Cedric Libert, Gilles Vanderstocken and Charlotte Lafont-Hugo are co-curator of the Detour 2013, an event that presents the work of young and emerging creative talents. This year, Hong Kong Ambassadors of Design join hands with Hong Kong Design Centre and PolyU Jockey Club Design Institute for Social Innovation to organize 10 amazing days of DETOUR 2013, from 29 November to 8 December 2013. Tentatively titled DETOUR MATTERS the project shall generate an inspiring and popular exhibition as well as a programme ranging from Catwalks and Street Performances to Forums and Pop-up Stores.
