Bruther/Baukunst shortlisted for the Mies van der Rohe Award 2022

The European Commission and the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion have announced the 40 shortlisted works that will compete in the 2022 European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award!

The 7 members of the jury – Tatiana Bilbao, chairwoman, Francesca Ferguson, Mia Hägg, Triin Ojari, Georg Pendl, Spiros Pengas and Marcel Smets – have chosen 40 works that highlight the opportunities and the trends of today’s architecture in the European territory which focus on Social Inclusion, Sustainability and Circularity, and Aesthetic Research.

Among them, the project Paris Saclay by the momentaneous association between the France-based office Bruther and the Brussels-based office Baukunst. The building combines a student residence and convertible parking lot within the Paris-Saclay campus.

Located in the heart of the Ecole Polytechnique district, as part of the Master Plan carried out by the team of Xaveer De Geyter Architects, in collaboration with the landscaper Michel Desvignes. The project takes the side of an indifferent superimposition of programs within an inhabited structure allowing versatility and reversibility of uses.

The five finalists will be announced on 16 February 2022.
The Architecture and Emerging Winners will be announced in mid-April in Brussels.
