About
The wish of the project owners was basically quite simple since it was based on the classic programming of a single-family house. After an unsuccessful search for available land in the region that satisfied their request, the eye fell on an area still free of residual space located at the back of their business. This construction area quickly turned out to be relatively complex. Indeed, the surface of the plot is small (+/- 500 m²); the difference in height in the two axes (E/W and N/S) is quite significant (+/- 2.0 m); and finally the context is relatively heterogeneous with a historical disorder of pitched roofs, materials and complex alignments. As is often the case in architecture (but this is an open question), the project revolves around these constraints and proposes the following composition axes: work on alignments and on transverse and longitudinal sections; a free plan composition for the day area upstairs allows customers to enjoy optimal living comfort; the choice of views and orientation; strong materiality; a choice of integration of design details and finally on the choice of sustainable architecture in its broadest sense. The synthesis of these compositional axes made it possible to propose a coherent project in relation to its context and fully responding to the programming of the customers.
