Programme
Renovation and extension of a 2-bedroom duplex apartment on the top floors of a four-story Art Deco building into a 3-bedroom triplex with office, music room and sculpture studio
About
It is at the top of an art deco building that the "NRF" apartment project was born. It consists of a renovation and extension of an initially 2 bedroom apartment located on the last two levels of the building. This one is transformed into a triplex of 3 rooms, with an office and a room of music and workshop of sculpture. Desiring to respect the existing building but convinced that the need for a strong architectural party, the extension is placed on the roof, such as a cantilevered glass box above the courtyard on the street side. The two existing levels are refurbished, and the interior-exterior relationship is reinforced by openings made in retreat from the public space. By taking advantage of the existing building, the design of the project is simple and aesthetic, it proposes an efficient use of the premises and a modulation over time. These are the bases for a functional and contemporary architecture. Beyond that, we are convinced that allowing families to live in the city in spaces adapted to their needs while continuing to practice their activities meets the socio-economic and sustainable challenges of our society.
